Malaria remains a serious public health challenge in Eswatini. Although substantial progress has been made through vector control and treatment programs, recent data shows persistent transmission in high-risk regions, underscoring the urgent need to accelerate elimination efforts nationwide.
Ending malaria in Eswatini is not just a health imperative – it’s an economic one. In malaria-endemic regions, the disease drains productivity and strains households. Eliminating malaria offers a 30–40:1 return on investment through saved lives, higher productivity, and lower health costs. That’s why the End Malaria Fund is urgently campaigning to raise the final US$3.5 million needed – a modest sum that will close the last gap and permanently secure Eswatini’s malaria-free status.
