World Malaria Day- “Reaching the Zero Malaria Target”

The End Malaria Fund Eswatini joined the National Malaria Programme and other stakeholders in commemorating the World Malaria Day at the Hilton Garden Hotel on the 23rd April 2021, joining the rest of the world under the theme “Reaching the Zero Malaria Target.

Gracing the event was Minister of Health, Honorable Senator Lizzie Nkosi mentioned the setback the country is experiencing in its journey to Malaria Elimination. The minister then encouraged each and everyone to play their part in the prevention of malaria in the country. She urged the public to seek medical treatment early when they experience signs and symptoms of malaria.

Ms. Thandile Nxumalo, Chairman of the Board of Directors, spoke on behalf of the End Malaria Fund, congratulating the Eswatini government, the Ministry of Health and the National Malaria Plan for their efforts in malaria elimination as currently, the country has successfully eliminated 96% of malaria cases.

She further emphasized on all stakeholders and the citizens to collaborate and work together towards eliminating Malaria. “The fund has been mandated to mobilize funds to assist the NMP in closing gaps and to sustain malaria elimination thereafter and due to the current pandemic, it has become difficult for the Fund to reach out for donations, we are introducing innovative ways to reach out to international and local communities to make contributions to the fund, zero malaria starts with me, you, us”. She announced the Fund will be launching its digital campaign on the 12th May aimed at raising funds and invited all stakeholders and citizens to join the digital conference in support of the Fund.
